How to get to Matera
The City of Matera can be reached by plane, by train and by car.
The closest airport to the city is Bari Palese Airport (60 km), from where you can get to Matera:
- by direct bus service (Bus Tour of Aeroporti di Puglia) or
- by train with the Nord Barese Railway Line (ferrovienordbarese.it), from the Bari main station “Bari Centrale”. Leaving the station, you get to Piazza Aldo Moro: at that point, turn left to reach FAL (Ferrovie Appulo Lucane), where several trains leave daily to the Matera Main Station. Please, note that on public holidays and Sundays there are no trains but bus connections from Bari Centrale.
From Bari Airport, it is possible to reach the City of Matera thanks to the direct connection with the main station of Bari Centrale.
